Engaging our Faith at Archwood

Our worship services, each Sunday at 11 a.m., are a blend of spiritual traditions and cultural expressions. Some of our members come from backgrounds in the United Church of Christ and the traditions that formed it, but others are from Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian and many other heritages, including no specific religious background at all. Our style is casual and informal, but if you like to dress up for church, do it! Come as you are, dressed in whatever way you feel comfortable. We continue to host all services both in-person and via a Zoom link.  We have continued the virtual attendance to abundantly welcome members near and far, and for those in our community for whom in-person attendance is difficult because of distance or mobility challenges

Our service includes times when we greet the people around us and when you can raise your prayers of joy or concern aloud -- only if you want to, of course! The sacrament of Holy Communion is offered at some services, and all are welcome to partake, whether or not you are formally a member of any church. We love to use music in our worship; we sing and are almost always accompanied by a piano, but sometimes have other instruments play along with us when other musicians are available.

We host a bi-monthly Food Pantry in which community members and friends can purchase seasonal fruits and vegetables and share a free-and delicious-meal.  We also provide cooked meals for those served by Denison Avenue UCC in partnership with them and other area faith communities.  Please see our Community outreach page for details about these ministries.

We are a small, and dynamic, community!  Our faith formation and worship mandates us to "go wider" and  establish  partnerships with area non-profit organizations as a way furthering our values and core principles of service and abundant welcome.  Personal mission is the way forward for many of us and members have established relationships with food banks, literacy efforts, hunger centers, homeless coalitions, voter registrations, and civic engagements for the common good.  The need is there, and we encourage all to consider how they may inform their Christian development in the world.
